Here you will find mountains and trails to hike, country roads to bike, and waters to paddle or sail. Enjoy a round of golf overlooking the bay. Swim in warm lake waters or the brisk Atlantic.

If you’re ready to shop ’till you drop, the harbor-front streets are lined with intriguing shops selling many made-in-Maine crafts and treasures from around the world. Purchase art work directly from artisans in their studios. Browse the antiques shops and flea markets. There are great country auctions, too!

The Camden area is also home to many festivals throughout the year. You'll want to come back over and over to see it all.

Lighthouses

The Midcoast of Maine has so many picturesque lighthouses on rocky shores, you will want to visit them all during your stay in Camden. A short hike from our Inn is the Curtis Lighthouse Overlook. The Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse is a fun way to spend the day. Or take the Isleboro Ferry to Grindle Point Lighthouse. And Owls Head & Marshall Point are very close by. You could spend a week in Camden and see a new lighthouse every day.

Hiking & Biking

Whether you are an avid hiker or cyclist, or just want to wander around the top of a mountain, Camden is a dream for hikers & bikers of all types. There are only two places on the East Coast of the U.S. where you can see the ocean from the top of a mountain, and Camden is one! Camden Snow Bowl has amazing mountain bike trails. Camden Hills State Park offers miles of hiking trails, and a taxing climb up the back side of Mount Battie. Maiden Cliff Trail is another favorite trail of our guests. The views from the tops of the mountains are not to be missed.

Lobster!

Did you know that lobster season is all year long? The peak time is June - December, but fisherman catch lobster all year. You can find a lobster roll on almost every menu in town, but be sure to try other lobster dishes while you are here. And, if you can make it to Midcoast Maine the first weekend of August, The Maine Lobster Festival is a huge celebration of lobster!

Wine Tasting

Midcoast Maine has some of the best wineries in the Northeast. Drive the beautiful coastal highway North to Lincolnville to visit Cellardoor Winery. Or head inland to visit Savage Oakes Vineyard & Winery and take in one of their Summer Concerts - Rick Springfield, anyone? Just south of Camden, you can visit scenic Owls Head while enjoying wine from Breakwater Vineyards. Bring a bottle back to enjoy on our front porch, sunny dining room, or in your room!

Festivals

The Camden area hosts festivals all year long starting in January with Camden Winterfest. February events include Toboggan Championships. May features Camden is Blooming, and the West Bay Rotary Duck Derby over Memorial Day weekend. Camden 4th of July fireworks kick off the summer season. The Maine Lobster Festival in August, along with the Maine Boat & Home Show, The Wild Blueberry Festival, and Camden Windjammer Festival! September offers the Camden International Film Festival, and the The Maine Country Fair about 45 minutes away. And everyone's favorite in December, Christmas by the Sea. Come back month after month to experience all of the wonderful celebrations. We'll save your room for you.

Kayaking & Watersports

Fancy a paddle around the harbor on a kayak? Maybe a SUP on Megunticook Lake is more your style? There are several companies in town that will take you on a tour, or let you rent their equipment. Let us help you plan your outing.

Shopping

Main Street in the village offers boutique shops, artisan crafts, and many uniquely Maine gifts. Enjoy spending a day strolling through all of the shops, grabbing a bite to eat on the waterfront, and then wandering behind the stores to view the Megunticook Falls that run under the buildings and into the bay.

Sailing & Day Charters

Enjoy a relaxing sail on a historic wooden schooner, like Schooner Surprise or Schooner Olad. Or take a romantic harbor sunset cruise. Want to visit the islands? The Vinalhaven Ferry and Islesboro Ferry are amazing ways to see the islands. You will enjoy the serenity and beauty all around you, including sea life like native puffins!
