It’s just about time for another amazing weekend filled with the latest and greatest innovations in Maine’s very own “Boats, Homes, and Harbors Show.” If you’re in the mood for some of the best of Maine’s fineartists, architects, boatbuilders, craftsmen, designers, furniture makers, jewelers, and marine gear vendors, then you’ll be right at home!
For their 12th annual event, the fine folks at “Maine Boats, Homes, and Harbors” are taking their crowd by storm. Expect a variety of live music, fine fresh food, an activities area for children (of ALL ages) and the 12th running of the World Championship Boatyard Dog® Trials!
We’ll be ready to take your reservations for this spectacular weekend event!
It’s a special day, (the longest in fact) from sunrise to sunset of the entire calendar year. The “solstice” as it’s called is technically “official” at 6:51 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on Saturday morning.
By it’s definition, the word solstice is from the Latin solstitium from sol (sun) and stitium (to stop), because it appears the sun stops at the solstice. The solstice happens twice annually due to the Earth’s axis of rotation. Depending on the calendar year, the summer solstice happens annually in December for the Southern Hemisphere and on June 20 or 21 in the northern half of the world.
Back to reality, YAY for sunlight! We enjoy the solstice for the get-togethers around our own town, and what memories we can create in the process. We hope you find your fun, and if you’re in town, we recommend our local “street celebration” close by in downtown Rockland.
Come and see the superb singer songwriter Suzanne Vega in concert at the Strand Theatre, Rockland on Oct 12th – 8.00PM! What a blast from the past – ‘Luka’ and ‘Marlene on the Wall’ are two of my absolute favorites! How fantastic that she is coming to Mid Coast Maine. Reserve your tickets for the concert, book your room at the Inn, get 10% discount on your room rate, and a great night out!
