Glendarragh farm Lavender store now open in Camden.

This is what we’ve been waiting for!  The Glendarragh farm lavender store has just opened at 22 main street, Camden.  The store looks, and smells wonderful.    They have  natural and organic body lotions, as well as aromatherapy, bath, culinary, decorative, garden and herbal lavender goodies.  Glendarragh Farm, home of Maine’s first commercial lavender farm, grows more than a dozen varieties of lavender in sweetly fragrant, hand-tended, organically fertilized fields.

Fiddleheads, anyone?

Fiddleheads, a predominantly  Maine delicacy,  from ostrich fern, are gathered in Spring, and now is the time to try them.  Usually steamed or boiled, I came across an interesting recipe in the local newspaper -

A ‘Maine Martini’  Here is the recipe -

1 1/2 oz Maine made  cold River Vodka

3/4oz Bartlett Winery Pear French Oak dry

1 0r 2 picked Spruce Bush Farm picked fiddleheads, chilled

Chill martini glass, gently combine vodka and wine.

Add fiddleheads, and enjoy!
